All scouts need good equipment. Part of your equipment consists of your Ten Essentials. They are:

Map
Compass
Sunglasses/Sunscreen
Flashlight or headlamp
Knife
Matches
Extra Clothing
Extra Food
First Aid Supplies
Firestarter
Duct Tape (Unofficial)
Zip Ties (Unofficial)

For camping, every scout should have:

A tent (unless you made arrangements to sleep in someone else’s)
Sleeping bag
Bug spray
Mess kit
Camping chair
Portable water filter
