Nico Symons-Galassi became an Eagle Scout on March 9, 2020. He is the first Eagle in Troop 21 with both a brother AND a sister in the troop, and both his parents happen to be merit badge counselors and ASMs. For his Eagle project, Nico led a team of scouts in a science day at the Boys and Girls Club. Great job, Nico!
Troop 21 spent Presidents’ weekend at Camp Pollack at Hubert Eaton Scout Reservation in Lake Arrowhead. The Scouts had a great time showing off skills in survival, scouting, archery, shooting, slingshot and so much more. After 2-days and 17 events, Troop 21 came out on top and took first place. Way to go T21!
Joshua Gamboa passed his Eagle Board on February 3rd and is Troop 21’s 157th Eagle Scout. He continues to be a great mentor to the younger scouts.
Miles Jackson passed his Eagle board on Dec 2nd and is Troop 21’s 156th Eagle Scout.
Jason Turner passed his Eagle board of review on November 25th to become Troop 21’s 155th Eagle scout.
Troop 21 visits Joshua tree for a fun and exciting trip. Scouts went rock climbing, performed search and rescue and gathered by the campfire at night.
Troop 21 has so much to celebrate this year. Eleven Scouts have earned Eagle Scout rank. We are proud of Miles Jackson, Jason Turner, Hunter Davis, Michael Mathews, Ethan Coe-Renner, Joseph DiGiovanni, Holden Nash, Lorenzo Edgar, Kema Allin, Aidan Currer and Max Winn.
Congratulations to all the Scouts who earned ranks advancements and badges, and happy holidays!
Of the 100 Boy and Girl Scouts you will see marching in the 2020 Rose Parade, 4 of them will be Eagles from Troop 21. That’s a pretty amazing ratio! Way to go Ethan, Joseph, Holden and Thomas! We are so proud of your incredible achievements and hope you have the time of your lives.
Great hike from Eaton Canyon to Henninger Flats.
Congratulations to Michael Mathews on becoming an Eagle Scout, something only 4 out of 100 scouts ever achieve. But you can clearly see that this scout had some amazing support along the way. Well done Michael!
T21 made its annual trip to the San Bernardino Mountains to one of our favorite spots–Shady Cove. Our campsite was on a ridge among excellent bouldering rocks. We made the trek up to Keller Peak (8,000 feet) and climbed the fire tower. On the way down we bushwhacked through thickets of manzanitas in a futile search for the remains of the B-26 bomber that crashed there in 1941. Maybe next year!
Nineteen Scouts hiked to Crystal Cove’s Deer Canyon for the first backpacking trip of the season. A great time was had by all including eight of the Scouts for whom this was their first backpacking trip. After the hike out T21 enjoyed the beach and well-deserved hamburgers.
